I thrive on stories about science, art, education, and culture — especially the offbeat. An alumna of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I studied journalism and environmental science while working as an editor and staff writer for the daily independent student newspaper, The Badger Herald. After college, I interned at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Illinois, writing and editing articles about particle physics, and then spent two years covering remote sensing (the study of the Earth's environment using ground-based, airborne, and satellite instruments) at the Space Science and Engineering Center in Madison, Wisconsin. I am currently a freelance writer and fact checker for a variety of publications, including Discover and the Pacific Standard. In my spare time, I like to be outdoors, make crafts, and travel.
